Teachers/Certified Staff

  • At Westside Community Schools, our teachers/certified staff are eligible to receive:

    • Starting salary $42,500 (2024-25) with competitive annual increases

    • Health & Dental Insurance

      • For the first three years of employment, the district pays for 100% of single health and dental and 75% of dependent health.  Full family health coverage is paid for the district after three years of employment.  

    • Life Insurance

      • The Board provides $60,000 Term Life Insurance Policy for all full-time employees.  An additional $125,000 of coverage is available for employees to purchase at the district’s low group rate.

    • Nebraska Public Employee Retirement Systems

      • All employees working 20 hours a week or more participate in the Nebraska Public Employee Retirement System through payroll deductions of 9.78% of the monthly salary.  The Board of Education annually contributes a percentage of the total salaries into the Retirement Program (9.87%).

    • Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

      • The district offers an employee assistance program to support its employees.  This confidential program is available for employees at no cost to identify and resolve personal issues.

    • Flexible Spending (Section 125 Plan)

      • All full-time and part-time staff working at least 20 hours weekly are eligible for pretax deductions for insurance premiums, non-reimbursed medical expenses and dependent care.

    • New Teacher Mentoring Program

      • Each newly hired certified staff member is assigned a mentor during their first year of employment. These mentors help cultivate a professional relationship focused on effective instructional practices, encompassing district methodologies, available materials/resources, collaboration and technology to support the educators' development. 

    • Westside Wellness Program

      • Staff have the opportunity to  participate in a robust district-wide wellness program involving various wellness activities. The district provides various monetary and duty time-based incentives aimed at promoting wellness and supporting the health of all staff members.

    • Tuition Reimbursement for Master’s Degree

      • Tuition reimbursement is available upon approval to certified staff only seeking advanced training directly related to their position.

    • WE-SIDE Initiative

      • WE-SIDE initiatives ensure that all of our students and staff feel welcomed and valued at Westside.  Initiatives focus on Welcoming, Equity, Support, Inclusion and Dignity for Everyone.
